Chairman 27 changelog

What we have changed in the game, build by build, written from our own build notes. The latest Android build is build 297.

  1. No more spoilers, fairer adverts and tidier pages

A round of fixes from playing the game end to end.

    • The match report and the next match preview now arrive after full time, not the moment you press Start match.
    • An advert no longer swallows your tap when you open or answer an email, and adverts never appear on the way to an email that needs an answer.
    • Respond now opens the first email that needs an answer instead of the inbox list.
    • Emails that arrive while the week moves on carry the current date, and an email is never dated in the future.
    • The "Offer accepted" pop-up no longer comes back a week later or shows for a deal that was agreed on the spot.
    • New manager cards, plus redesigned "Achievement unlocked" and "Contract accepted" pages.
    • While emails still need replies, the top-right button reads "Respond", not "Continue to match".
    • Player money requests are capped at £25,000, and "Overall" is now called "Rating".
  2. Two matches in one week

Busy weeks now give you time to react between games.

    • When your club plays twice in a week, the week stops after the first game so you can deal with letters, the team and deals before the second.
    • A player who is being sold no longer gets contract letters; one already in your inbox says who he is being sold to.
    • Answering from a letter takes you back to the inbox list, and a letter about several players stays open for the others.
    • The figures on the offer page follow the slider as you move it.
    • Club names ending in s read properly: "Wanderers’ offer".
    • The transfer window page shows once per window.
  3. A football world that stays in balance

Long careers keep every league at the level it started at.

    • Leagues no longer creep upwards in quality over many seasons: each one stays close to its starting level.
    • Women’s careers are now translated into every language the game supports.
    • Leaderboards: Biggest comeback shows the final score, the header record is now "Headed goals", and money bought with real money no longer counts towards Career profit or Highest balance.
    • Direct free-kick goals are named in the commentary and counted in the stats.
    • Staff and manager contract pages fit the screen, and agreed wages are whole pounds.
  4. Match highlights

Live matches slow down for the moments that matter.

    • Goals, big chances, saves, shots off the woodwork, penalties and red cards play out at close to real speed, and the quieter spells race by at your chosen speed. The football itself is unchanged.
    • A player who has just signed or renewed can’t be offered a new contract for 26 weeks, and a player who has just moved can’t be bid for.
    • More player faces, including women’s faces for a women’s career, new sponsor logos and new transfer-news pictures.
    • Story pages such as "X is not happy" now sit on full-screen photos chosen by mood.
  5. Women’s careers and proper haggling

    A big feature build.

    • A women’s career is a women’s world: names, and she/her throughout.
    • Contract talks rewritten: players come towards your offer over a few rounds, and a clear FINAL OFFER badge shows when they will move no further.
    • Set pieces now shape matches: your chosen takers, corner targets, short corners, free-kick options and long throws.
    • You can view other clubs’ formation, instructions and set-piece pages.
    • Previews of stand, pitch and facility upgrades, friendly kits with sponsors, and the captain is now your best-rated first-teamer.
    • Sorting on lists, and suspensions that apply by country and competition.
  6. Staff sign instantly

Faster staff hiring and clearer money pages.

    • A member of staff joins the moment he accepts your offer.
    • Money graphs: tap a point to see that month’s balance; projected income and spending are shown as dashed lines.
    • Career history shows the right two stats for each position: goals and assists for midfielders and attackers, assists and clean sheets for keepers and defenders.
    • Releasing a player shows the money before and after, and the manager gives his advice for that player.
    • A player’s happiness reason now reflects what is actually happening to him, and trend arrows compare with eight weeks ago.
    • The fans’ face on the ticket price page changes as you change the price.
    • New player faces and sponsor logos, sponsor deals of one to three seasons, and a match at 1x speed takes about three minutes.
  7. Five seasons played, and what we changed

Changes after five seasons were played through every page of the game.

    • An injury to one of your players during a live match opens the substitutes page straight away.
    • Award winners gain rating, and a player’s form over the season speeds up or slows down his development.
    • A new chairman gets some room in the wage budget and a welcome fund, and is not sacked at the end of a first season unless the club is relegated (except on Hard).
    • Christmas Eve and Christmas Day games move to Boxing Day.
    • A club that sacked you won’t hire you back for three seasons.
    • Lower leagues no longer slowly fill up with players who are too good for them.
  8. About 140 fixes from a full test pass

Every screen checked against a 529-point checklist, plus two full seasons played through.

    • The live match now shows exactly the match that was played, with goals, assists and cards credited to the right players.
    • Letters that need an answer hold the week until you reply.
    • Academy players stay until 18 and can’t be bid for or sold.
    • Every name in the game is invented.
  9. Deals, windows and match day

The transfer market got stricter and clearer.

    • Every signing waits for a confirmation letter, and the board can still cancel a deal with a reason.
    • Transfer window warnings, a registration deadline for non-league clubs, and a red "Window shut" button when the market is closed.
    • Home, Mail and Advance are locked during a live match until the round-up is done.
    • Players and managers slowly learn new formations and styles as you win.
    • Hundreds of new lines translated.
  10. Five save slots and real money pressure

    • Five career save slots, each showing the career’s legacy and progress.
    • Overspending has consequences: wage warnings, forced sales deep into the overdraft and, at worst, the sack.
    • Holidays by country, and no games on Christmas Day.
  11. Twelve styles of play

A new match engine for the whole football world.

    • Every league has its own character, and every match has a referee with his own strictness.
    • Twelve styles of play, each with its own demands on fitness.
    • Players and staff learn formations and styles over time.
  12. Match day scenes

Live matches got their big moments.

    • Red cards: the referee stops play, the card goes up and the player walks down the tunnel.
    • The physio runs on for injuries, and the player either carries on or is helped off.
    • Penalties are staged properly, with the scorer racing to the corner flag.
    • At half time your assistant tells you how it is going and suggests changes.
  13. Penalty shoot-outs you can watch

    • Watch every penalty in a shoot-out, from the walk to the spot to the keeper’s dive.
    • Extra time with its own breaks, like half time.
    • Players can be injured by tackles during a match.
    • More than 200 screen labels translated.
